10 Minutes BREAD MACHINE SOURDOUGH W/ French Bread Function

Baking I learned has been great to show that the impossible in within reach. This would be my third attempt at sourdough sinceI have killed the other two sourdough starters by not feeding on time. I have over the last three days worked on THREE sourdough bread loaves and TWO sourdough pasta recipe variations. This was only possible by using a bread machine and pasta maker and the process for each recipe taking 10 minutes and being mindful of least equipment used to minimize clean up time.

Also, knowing that habits or routines require 21 tries is comforting since I have a long run way left before I see success and the process’s becomes habituated.

The sour dough starter is the King Arthur starter and the recipe is here.

Using a bread machine and a scale reduce need for any mixing bowl. The only utensils used are measuring spoons for salt, sugar. If those were dispensed using a fixed amount dispenser bottle then the only measuring tools that are needed are the 1) cup that is used to scoop up flour and then sour dough (working from dry to wet ) 2) measuring spoon for oil. The same cup is used to feed the sourdough starter (adding 2 part flour and 1 part lukewarm water).

It took less than 10 minutes for a 1.5 lb loaf that the kids can eat with Nutella or peanut butter on the weekends and jam or egg during school days (their schools have nut free policies).
